May 31, 2019Kim Pidgeon

Council tax and business rates specialists, Caritas, are delighted to announce a new partnership with One Housing.

One Housing builds, manages and maintains homes across London and the South East. They currently own and manage over 17,000 properties, providing homes to more than 35,000 customers. They are a not-for-profit organisation, offering a wide range of housing options, including homes for social rent in partnership with local authorities as well as homes for affordable rent, shared ownership, private rent and private sale. They are one of London’s largest care providers to people with complex needs, giving care and support to approximately 9,500 people in the community, and helping them to live independently. They have an ambitious development programme and are committed to building 5,000 new homes in the next ten years.

The housing provider have brought Caritas on board to assist with recovering overpaid business rates and council tax. Caritas specialise in identifying and claiming back historical overpayments of council tax and business rates for organisations with charitable status.

One Housing are the second member of the G15 Housing Association to partner with Caritas. Notting Hill Genesis have been working with the team since 2016. The G15 is the group of London’s largest housing associations. Their members house one in ten Londoners and are the largest providers of affordable homes in the capital. Together they build a quarter of all London’s new homes and own or manage more than 600,000 homes.

Simon Fitzsimmons, director of client services at Caritas, said: “Myself and the team are excited to be working with G15 member One Housing. We’re looking forward to getting started and reclaiming historical overpayments of council tax and business rates for the housing association. It feels good to be putting money back into hands of the charity.”
