An application to develop over 200 new homes on the former Reno nightclub site in the Moss Side area of Manchester has been approved.
The City Council’s Planning Committee has given the go-ahead to Mosscare St Vincent’s Housing Group’s (MSV) plans for the new development.
Situated at the site of the old Reno nightclub on Princess Road, the scheme will provide 212 new social and affordable homes for people local to the Moss Side area.
The development is to include social and affordable homes: 100 social rent, 28 older person social rent and 84 Rent-to-Buy.
The buildings will range between 3 to 10 storeys in height, and include a mix of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-bedroom homes.
Wheelchair accessible properties and homes for later life are included in the scheme.
MSV state the scheme will celebrate the important heritage of the former site of the Reno club, and the social housing provider will be seeking views from the local community on how best to achieve this.

“This scheme will also bring back into use long-term brownfield land, which is another key priority for the city – to use the land we have at our disposal in a positive way to meet the demand for genuinely affordable housing.”
