The company has been part of the climate action platform’s community for five years
Caritas has passed the 40,000 mark with Ecologi, having now funded the planting of 40,746 trees across 27 projects since joining the climate action platform.
The environmental subscription service helps businesses to measure and reduce their emissions, fund climate action projects and report their progress towards net-zero.
Ecologi works with over 16,000 businesses, and their 40,000 strong community has funded the planting of over 95 million trees.
Since joining in 2021, Caritas has supported projects including reforestation in Changalane, Mozambique, Mangrove planting at Kandrany, Madagascar and planting forest gardens in Uganda.
As well as the tree planting, Caritas has supported the prevention of 695.47 tCO2e – the equivalent to 534 long-haul flights or 1,771,362 miles driven in a car – from being emitted through 35 verified carbon avoidance projects, including conserving the Amazon in Brazil, turning local organic waste into electricity in India and repairing water boreholes in Eritrea.
It has also so far funded the removal of 2.092 tonnes of CO2e from the atmosphere across three projects and 9m² of habitat restoration in the UK, restoring wildflowers, wetlands and wildlife.
